ailson (de Holanda Cavalcanti) was born in the city of Recife in the state of Pernambuco, in Brazil. He is a professional cartoonist since 1975 and since 1977
maintains a daily editorial cartoon at the Diario de Pernambuco newspaper, the oldest newspaper still in print in Latin America.
His works have appeared in many Brazilian newspapers and magazines - and in some
abroad - and he has received a few prizes in national and international humor salons and festivals, among them, the Salão Internacional de Humor de Piracicaba (Brazil) and the Salon of Caricatures in Montreal, Canada.
Author of five books, he has been invited to humor festivals in Brazil and abroad as a guest and a member of the jury. He also is the coordinator of the Festival Internacional de Humor e Quadrinhos de Pernambuco
(International Humor and Comics Festival of Pernambuco).
His works are distributed outside of Brazil by the CWS - Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate and can be seen in his website "Humor World - Editorial,

He is also a Rock 'N Blues musician and plays at weekends with his Lailson Blues Band, where he is the lead singer and rythim guitarist.
